    Substitute Teaching in Newaygo County


    The public school districts in Newaygo County utilize the services of EDUStaff/Frontline to employ and assign substitute teachers, and in some districts, substitute teacher aides/paraprofessionals. If you are interested in being a substitute teacher/paraprofessional in Newaygo County, please visit www.edustaff.org, click on "Start Application" and follow the on-line application process.

    Representatives from EDUStaff will be at the Educational Service Center for substitutes to drop off their forms and complete the application process.  These are two-hour meetings to finalize the application process and complete some training requirements.  All meetings will take place from 2-4 p.m. at the Educational Service Center, 4747 W. 48th Street, Fremont, in the Guardsman Classroom (room #144).

    Terms: school year/full time (servicing students in the Newaygo County RESA and Montcalm Area ISD service areas), with benefits per the NCEA master agreement    
    Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree, or better, in education or in a related field.
    • Valid Michigan teaching certificate and/or State of Michigan approval to function in the specific discipline area; HII endorsement preferred.
    • At least three years of successful teaching experience.
    • Experience working with students with hearing impairments.
    • Experience or training in making accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
    • Extensive knowledge of current trends, supports and assistive technologies available and recommended for students with hearing impairments, including a variety of FM systems.
    • Extensive knowledge of common behavioral supports to use with students with hearing impairments.
    • Possession of solid organizational and planning skills.
    • Ability to work as a member of a team and contribute to the agency vision and goals.
    Essential Functions:
    • Assess students’ educational needs.
    • Assist in the development of an educational program which can be used in the classroom, school building and community, as appropriate.
    • Complete and present a written evaluation report to parents/guardians and local educational agencies within a required timeline.
    • Assist in the development of goals and objectives and maintain a record of student progress.
    • Participate in the development of an annual individualized educational plan for each child; participate in IEPT, MET and other meetings, as appropriate.
    • Keep apprised of new materials and methods of instruction and provide academic support and modification of instructional materials for classroom teachers and students.
    • Consult with other personnel including teachers, principals, other ancillary staff, and parents to evaluate program effectiveness.
    • Initiate and maintain regular contact with parents regarding student progress, program activities and available community resources.
    • Provide staff development and parent/guardian training.
    • Complete timely submission of claims to Medicaid for eligible students on caseload.
    • Establish and maintain appropriate records, reports, forms, and procedures.
