What is NCATS?
Newaygo County Advanced Technology Services, or NCATS, is the technology department of NC RESA. Our unique network, established in 1995, connects our five K-12 schools, agencies and governments with a long-term fiber optic solution ready to adapt to changing demands.
We continue to extend the reach of this one-of-a-kind Newaygo County infrastructure with additions and last-mile technologies.
A consortium was created to govern the use of an Educational Telecommunications Network.
Michigan Telecommunications Act, Public Act 179 of 1991, MCL 484.2101 authorized the Educational Telecommunications Network to provide Video, Audio, Data, and Voice to areas of Newaygo County and portions of Muskegon County, Kent County, Montcalm County and Oceana County.
What do we do?
- Provide internet to five major school districts
- Maintain centralized student management software
- Manage an 80+ mile fiber optic network
- Provide internet to qualified members of the Educational Telecommunications Network
