It is our goal to ensure that each homeless child and youth will have equal access to a free, appropriate public education

The term 'homeless children and youth' is defined as those who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence and includes:

    • Children and youth sharing the housing of others, living in motels, hotels, trailers in a park or camping ground, living in emergency or transitional shelters, abandoned in hospitals or awaiting a foster care placement.
    • Children and youth who have a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings.
    • Children and youth living in cars, parks public spaces, abandoned buildings substandard housing, bus or train stations.
    • Migratory children who qualify as homeless according to the law.
