• Cosmetology:

    Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully complete the State of Michigan examination for licensure. Students will be exposed to hands-on learning experiences performing services such as hairstyling, cutting, perms, hair coloring, and manicuring with mannequins and customers in a salon environment.

    *Articulated Credit  - NC RESA has Articulation Agreements with several colleges for articulation of credit from NCCTC programs to the institutional programs. A student successfully completing a competency exam for each course is awarded credit if the student enrolls in courses at that college as either a full or part-time student within a given period of time after graduation (usually one year). These credits are not transferable to other post-secondary institutions.



    Special Features:

    Licensing - Students may earn occupational licensing opportunity as a Cosmetologist which includes all hair, skin, and nail services. With this license you are also certified as a nail technician and esthetician.

    Academic Credit - Students successfully completing a program at the Newaygo County Career-Tech Center may earn credit for one of the following Michigan Merit Curriculum graduation requirements including: 4th Year Math, Visual, Performing and Applied Arts, and On-Line credit. Please contact your local counselor for more information.

    Work-Based Learning Opportunities- Students experience work-based learning opportunities through the comprehensive salon structure within the Cosmetology 2 program.

    Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) - Students participate in program CTSOs focusing on leadership, public speaking, conducting/participating in meetings, civic responsibility, and community service projects.
