Board of Education
Board Meetings are held at the Educational Service Center (ESC) on Mondays at 8:30 a.m., unless otherwise noted.The NC RESA Board of Education will meet virtually on January 11, beginning at 8:30 AM. This is an open meeting and the public is welcome to participate. Virtual meeting information can be found on our homepage.
NOTE:Official minutes of all NC RESA Board Meetings are kept in the Superintendent's office in the Educational Service Center Building. All minutes are available for public inspection during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
NOTE:Any person with a disability who needs accommodations for participation in this meeting should contact the Superintendent's office, at least 5(five) days in advance of the meeting to request assistance.

Board Members

David Hewitt, a Fremont resident, currently serves as the NC RESA Board President. Mr. Hewitt was first appointed to the Board in 1994 and elected to the board in 1995, 1997, 2003, 2019 and 2015.
His current six-year term expires in 2021.
Ed Haynor, a Newaygo resident, currently serves as the NC RESA Board Vice President. Mr. Haynor was elected to the Board in 2003, 2007, 2013 and 2019.
His current six-year term expires in 2025.
Karen Kasankiewicz, a Hesperia resident, currently serves as the NC RESA Board Treasurer. Ms. Kasankiewicz was elected to the Board in 2007, 2013 and 2019. Her current six-year term expires in 2025.
Laura Johnson, a Big Jackson resident currently serves as the NC RESA Secretary. Ms. Johnson was appointed to the board in 2013 and elected to the board in 2015 and 2017.
Her current term expires in 2023.
Sarah Robinson, a Grant resident, currently serves as the NC RESA Board Trustee. Mrs. Robinson was appointed to the board in 2018 and elected to the board in 2019.
Her current term expires in 2023.
