Salary Range: $48,268-$88,927 (dependent on degree and experience)
 
Reports To: Tom Humpage, Special Education Supervisor  
Terms: Wages / benefits per NCEA master agreement    
Qualifications:
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
  • Teaching certificate endorsement(s) for the area of special education assigned.
  • ASD endorsement and experience working with students with autism.
  • Must be able to pass criminal history check.
Essential Functions:

Essential duties shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Assess students’ educational needs.
  • Participate in the development of an annual individualized educational plan for each child.
  • Develop a comprehensive curriculum plan of performance objectives for each student.
  • Review and revise each curriculum plan with student’s parents; participate in IEPT meetings pertaining to students in the classrooms and other students as assigned by the program supervisor.
  • Provide daily instructional activities consistent with the annual individualized educational plan.
  • Keep apprised of new materials and methods of instruction, and provide needed resources and materials for instruction.
  • Provide a classroom environment that effectively supports the instructional program and activities and that supports the needs of each student.
  • Initiate and maintain regular contact with parents regarding program activities, incidents, student progress, and available resources.
  • Complete required reports, forms and records.
  • Participate in inservice and staff meetings.
  • Plan, manage and direct the activities of the classroom assistant assigned to program.
  • Supervise and assist in the evaluation process of the classroom assistant.
  • Extended contract obligations as per NCEA Master Agreement.
  • Complete timely submission of claims to Medicaid for eligible students on caseload.
  • CPI certification annually.
  • Write and implement positive behavior support plans.
  • Coordinate community based instruction partnership.
