Every day at Camp Sunshine, people with and without disabilities come together to experience a culture rooted in inclusion, grace, and joy. Here, barriers are broken down, gifts are celebrated, and everyone is encouraged to recognize their own strengths while valuing the talents of others.
The impact doesn’t stop when camp ends—it goes with campers, volunteers, and families into their schools, workplaces, and communities.
Together, a more inclusive world is being created—one relationship at a time.
January is School Board Appreciation Month! Our staff, students, and community are grateful for your dedication and continued support.
January is Braille Literacy Month! January 4th is the celebration of Braille's creation!
Louis Braille developed Braille, a system of reading and writing using touch, at the age of 15.
We have two blind first grade students in our county who are learning Braille to read, write, and do math (which is a different Braille code called Nemeth that uses the same six dots in a Braille cell as the Braille literacy code. We are fortunate to have a powerful team of three working diligently to support our braille learners in Newaygo County!

Building Bridges Preschool collaborated with the Great Start Collaborative to host our November Family Literacy Night across multiple centers throughout the county!

Families enjoyed a magical Story Walk featuring Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? 🐻 After the walk, families participated in hands-on literacy activities designed to support early reading skills, promote language development, and encourage meaningful family engagement.
To make the night even more special, every child received their own copy of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? to take home and continue the love of reading. ❤️
