We were honored to host the Crisis Intervention Team introductory training yesterday, in partnership with the City of Fremont and the City of Newaygo Police Departments.
This collaborative initiative brings together law enforcement, mental health professionals, and community members to improve responses to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and reduce stigma. The training featured experts in mental health, law enforcement procedures, court systems, and homelessness, and concluded with group scenarios to apply what was learned.
We look forward to seeing this program grow and expand to further support the evolving needs of our community.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this impactful day possible!

The first week is in the books! What an exciting start to a year full of learning, growth, and fun! Please click the link to see a video collage of the many adventures of our Preschoolers!! First Week of Preschool Video

Along the way, we stopped by the granary and got to witness trucks being filled with corn — such a neat, real-world learning moment! 🚜🌽 To top it off, one of the truck drivers came over and surprised the kids with FREE hats. Their smiles said it all.
What a wonderful day of discovery, learning, and community connection!

🧹 Meet Michelle — Our Custodial Star!
Michelle has been a dedicated member of our custodial team for 3½ years. She’s now transitioning from the Career-Tech Center to Fremont Center Preschool, where she’ll help create a safe, welcoming space for our youngest learners.
Her expertise in maintaining clean, organized environments supports staff and students alike. Michelle is excited to build new connections and contribute to a productive school year. We’re grateful for her adaptability and all she brings to the team!

⏰ What time is it? SNACK TIME! 🍎
We’re excited to welcome our Preschoolers back!
Snacks do more than fill tummies—they fuel learning, boost moods, and build community. From counting grapes to sharing crackers, snack time helps kids grow in every way.
Let’s celebrate the power of a good snack!

This week, we are pleased to introduce Kayla, who has been with NC RESA custodial team for two years. Kayla works in the Neway building, where she ensures a safe and clean environment for our preschoolers.
Kayla is recognized for her commitment to her job and her evident pride in her work. She approaches each day with a positive attitude and a welcoming smile, consistently encouraging those around her with her optimism.
Kayla's connection to NC RESA began when she attended the Career-Tech Center Construction Trades Program. During her time there she was honored with the Breaking Traditions Award and Gavin Sima Award, highlighting her dedication and excellence.
Kayla's favorite aspect of her position is creating safe and clean spaces for students, staff, and the community. She enjoys the challenges her role presents and takes full ownership of her responsibilities, striving to maintain a high standard in everything she does. Everyone needs a Kayla on their team!

At NC RESA we’re proud to have an incredible team behind the scenes keeping our spaces clean, welcoming and ready for action. Today we’re shining the spotlight on Kay, a valued member of our custodian crew who has been with us for 5 years.
You will most often find Kay in our ESC Building where she works her magic – literally! Whether she’s creating beautiful setups for meetings, sanitizing rooms after classes and events, or tidying up office spaces, Kay brings care and attention to every detail.
When asked about her favorite part of the job, Kay mentioned that she enjoys working with the custodial team during the summer and waxing floors.
Her dedication helps make NC RESA a comfortable and professional environment for staff, students, and visitors. We’re so grateful for everything she does!
Stay tuned as we continue to introduce more of our amazing custodian crew. 👏

We brought some books and had some fun, E-I-E-I-O!
With a fun pop here, and a book there,
Here a smile, there a goat, everywhere some dusty toes —
At the fairgrounds in the sun, E-I-E-I-O!
The Great Start crew was out in force, E-I-E-I-O!
FISH and PAT joined in, of course, E-I-E-I-O!
With resources here, and programs there,
We helped connect with loving care—
For little ones and families too, E-I-E-I-O!
Over 350 kids came to play, E-I-E-I-O!
With books and popsicles to make their day, E-I-E-I-O!
With a moo-moo here, and a cluck-cluck there ,
We braved the heat with time to spare—
At Kid’s Day full of cheer, E-I-E-I-O!

On Friday, July 11th, United Way of the Lakeshore and Michigan’s Adventure teamed up for a splashy event to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Newaygo, Muskegon, and Oceana Counties.
Supporters adopted rubber ducks that raced down the waterslide at Michigan’s Adventure water park — and those little ducks made a big impact!
The event raised enough to provide 72,000 books to over 6,000 children across our communities!
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library mails free books to children from birth to age five every month, nurturing a love of reading right from the start. In Newaygo County, approximately 575 children are currently enrolled and receiving books each month.
That’s 575 little learners building home libraries and big imaginations!
A huge THANK YOU to United Way and Michigan’s Adventure for your creativity, generosity, and commitment to early literacy.
